Two industry specialists with more than three decades of experience have been named to executive posts at The Falls shopping center, one of the largest open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complexes in the United States. Julie Goldman, whose experience includes 23 years in the shopping center industry, was appointed general manager for The Falls, while Danielle Spiegelman was named the center's new marketing director. Prior to being named general manager, Goldman served as the center's marketing director for the last three years. She was The Falls' original marketing director when it opened in 1980. She served as the regional marketing manager for Florida's East region for DeBartolo Properties Management from 1984 to 1996, supervising marketing operations for nine shopping centers. "I've been involved in The Falls a good part of my life, and it feels very natural for me to move into this new position as general manager," Goldman said. As general manager, she will be responsible for day-to-day center operations while working closely with the center's marketing director, its tenants and the greater community. A Miami native, Goldman received her bachelor of science degree in advertising and journalism from the University of Wisconsin. She also holds a senior level marketing director certification (SCMD) from the International Council of Shopping Centers. Active with numerous civic and charitable organizations such as the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, Greater Miami Convention and Visitor's Bureau and Children's Home Society, Goldman lives in Pinecrest. Spiegelman comes to The Falls from University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center where she served as director of special events since July 1997. She has worked as national regional accounts manager and as sales manager at Elegant Bride magazine and with Herb Weiner Associates as an account executive responsible for travel and tourism accounts at several national publications. At The Falls, she will be responsible for all marketing, public relations and special events. A Miami native, Spiegelman holds a bachelor of science degree in advertising from the University of Florida. Actively involved in charitable and community groups, Spiegelman plans to continue her involvement with cancer research as a volunteer. She lives in South Miami. The Falls, located at 8888 SW 136 St. (the intersection of S. Dixie Highway and 136th Street), is known for its million-gallon waterscape of rushing falls accented by flowering shrubs and foliage. The center features Bloomingdale's, Macy's, a 12-screen movie theater and more than 100 stores, restaurants and cafes. Shopping hours are 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday; noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. |
