The opening of Land Rover South Dade in December 1999 brings to five the total number of automobile dealerships owned and operated by Warren Henry Automobiles, according to company president/CEO Warren Henry Zinn. Dixie Highway (US 1) and SW 168th Street, the new 16,000-square-foot dealership features a showroom and full-service maintenance department as well as a state-of-the-art demonstration track. Custom-built by a Texas-based firm that specializes in motor tracks, the 120-foot off-road test track is designed to demonstrate the rugged-terrain handling and maneuverability of Land Rover vehicles. For more than 50 years, Land Rover has been manufacturing vehicles designed and engineered for utility and long life as illustrated by this year's introduction of the new Discovery Series II and a significantly upgraded Range Rover. While many features set Land Rover apart, the most noteworthy of these are the rugged boxed-steel frames and permanent four-wheel-drive systems. This combination produces an exceptionally strong base in concert with a low center of gravity and extraordinary traction. The upgraded Range Rover is like no other luxury sport
utility, embodying a unique combination of old-world craftsmanship and the
highest levels of technical sophistication. Indeed, Range Rover transcends
class definitions, presenting a suitable alternative to a luxury sedan for
those who desire greater traction and utility, or simply for individuals
who seek out adventures in out-of-the-way places. Additionally, each wheel is monitored by a new, four-wheel Electronic Traction Control system (4ETC). This system increases mobility under slippery conditions and requires no driver intervention. Land Rover vehicles also boast high-performance anti-lock breaking systems, with large disc brakes at each wheel. In fact, the system can actually sense variations in terrain and adjust braking accordingly, thereby providing stability and control even in extreme braking situations. The new Discovery Series II is the most technologically advanced Land Rover ever produced. From powertrain enhancements to sophisticated comfort and convenience features, the Series II represents the sports utility concept taken to an all-new level. Features include six inches of additional cargo room as well as a wider track thanks to the adoption of Range Rover's rugged front and rear axles. A new Self-Leveling Suspension (SLS) option delivers automatic load leveling and a raised, off-road mode. Furthermore, unique to Discovery Series II is Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) an optional, patented active sway bar system that decreases body lean when cornering for better response and added passenger comfort. The opening of Land Rover South Dade follows hot on the heels of the success of Land Rover North Dade, which Warren Henry Automobiles opened in 1995 at 19275 NW Second Ave. (US 441). In fact, 1999 marked the highest sales year for Land Rover in North America, and continued sales volume growth is anticipated as sport utility vehicles increase in popularity. With Land Rover, Jaguar, Volvo and Infiniti dealerships, Warren Henry Automobiles grosses in excess of $165 million in annual sales. Those figures reflect the strength of the company's reputation as well as the strength of South Florida's luxury automobile market, which ranks first behind New York and Los Angeles in the sale of cars priced at $30,000 or more. Founded in 1976, the business headed by Zinn, is one of the largest family owned and operated groups of automobile dealerships in South Florida. Each of Warren Henry's dealerships are ranked in the top 10 nationally for sales in its respective automotive line. |
