MIAMI BEACH, FL - Dr. Tony Michaels of the University of Wisconsin appears at the Jewish Museum of Florida on Thursday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the influences of Eastern European Jewry on American labor and Jewish politics. The event is co-sponsored by the Judaic Studies Program, Florida International University (FIU). Admission is free for Museum members, FIU students and faculty. All others: $5.00, Museum admission. Dr. Michaels' talk relates to the current temporary exhibition, "Remembering Luboml: Images of a Jewish Community," continuing through May 10. That exhibit preserves the memory of a once-thriving shtetl in Poland. The Jewish Museum of Florida is located at 301 Washington Ave., South Beach, in a restored historic Art Deco synagogue. The museum's core exhibit is "MOSAIC: Jewish Life in Florida." The nonprofit museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving and interpreting Jewish history in Florida since 1763. Visitors enjoy visual and interactive displays, video documentaries, permanent and changing exhibitions and year-round special programming, including music, lectures, discussions, films and social events.
