Tropical Ag Fiesta offers "A Taste of the Tropics" during the 18th annual event on July 15 and 16, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum, 12450 SW 152 St. The event promises to be both fun-filled and educational for the entire family. Cooking demonstrations by local chefs, fruit samplings, landscaping seminars for urban and suburban living, and a variety of exhibitors displaying a wide array of tropical fruits, vegetables, plants and trees, will all be part of the festivities. Other activities planned are hands-on workshops for children, train rides, live entertainment and much more. For the second year in a row, the event will take place at the historic Gold Coast Railroad Museum adjacent to Miami Metrozoo that features Miami-Dade County's only national historical landmark, the Ferdinand Magellan presidential rail car. The Southern Florida Tropical Growers Association (SFTGA) is made up of area growers of tropical fruit, vegetables, trees and plants. The mission of SFTGA is to improve the quality of life of Southern Florida through education about tropical fruit, vegetables, ornamental plants and natural resources.
